Black Metal demonical force BLACK ALTAR together with their label Odium Records announces a split with the Norwegian black/thrash masters VULTURE LORD - “Deathiah Manifesto”.

It will be released around October as an LP and digipack cd. Split contains 8 songs, including intros done by Ludo “Evil” Lejeune. One song from VULTURE LORD is still with vocals recorded by Nefas.



Musicians of Vader, Mork and Enshadowed has taken part in BLACK ALTAR part of the split. Cover art was done by Jenglot Hitam Artwork.

"Earlier this month we reviewed an impressive new split by two experienced French bands from the black metal underground — NIRNAETH and Azziard. The split, which includes one exclusive song from each band, will be released on August 12 on 7″ vinyl by Kaotoxin Records — the first 7″ ever released by the label. Now we’re following that review with the premiere of a video for NIRNAETH’s powerful track, along with an interview of the band’s guitarist Mutill.

NIRNAETH, who took their name from the word for “Tears” in the elvish language of Sindarin from the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, began their existence roughly 15 years ago. Prior to this split, they released two albums, Thrown Athwart the Darkness in 2006 and Splendour of the Abyss in 2009. Their contribution to the split is a track called “Nihil in Me”, and it was was recorded during the pre-production process for a forthcoming third album.



As we learned in the accompanying interview, this new album, like the first two, will tell a story, and “Nihil In Me” is a central part of that narrative — “where the body is regarded as a dam and the blood like a lake frustrated”. In this song, the story’s central character “decides to sabotage the dam in order to leave his body ‘as one leaves a scorched earth'”.

To represent this concept of a body as a dam, the video focuses on tight shots of faces and bodies — which intensifies an already intense performance.

The music itself is a turbocharged assault of gut-punching percussion and fierce riff swarms, with poisonous vocal vitriol. The chaotic torrent of black metal savagery is broken by a head-bobbing, hard-rocking interlude before the hell-ride resumes and rockets toward its conclusion."

NIRNAETH, French Black Death Metal warriors are to to release split 7″ "Dramatis Personae" EP with AZZIARD!

Kaotoxin is proud to announce the July 22nd release of a limited edition split 7″ EP by two pillars of the French Black Metal Scene: NIRNAETH and AZZIARD.

Sharing singer with THE NEGATION, AZZIARD’s contribution, “Unus Mundus”, has been produced at the Vamacara studio (OTARGOS, VOLKER, ANTROPOFAGO…) and was previously released as part of Kaotoxin’s “Weapons of Self-Destruction, volume 2” label sampler while NIRNAETH’s “Nihil in Me” has been produced at the Midnight studio (GRONIBARD…) and mastered at HHStudio (MISERABLE FAILURE, MERDA MUNDI, SOURCES OF I…).

The EP, with artwork by Above Chaos (Bethlehem, Tsjuder, Naglfar…), will be available in two versions: a 100 copies collector edition solid grey vinyl exclusively available from the artists or through the Kaotoxin Shop and a 400 copies limited edition black vinyl. The bands:
CONQUEST ICON death black metal band from the Polish underground titan Andy Blakk (ex-Pyorrhoea, Empheris, etc) have unlashed their new split CD "We are the Ancients" together with their underground war-brothers Empheris, Purifier, Conquest Icon, Wraith and Necroist. On this participation, Conquest Icon unveil their most recent sound, that is an upgraded version of what "Hellspire" debut album has unveiled, overcoming it on maturity, aggression and power! Ronve has surely given the band a much better vocal dynamism which also allowed the band to move forwards! For those unfamiliar with the bands let me tell you a bit more about them all:
Conquest Icon: have been founded in late 2009 by Andy Blakk and Empherion (see also Empheris), since the beginning the band has been improving their blackened death metal, now with a complete line-up they are ready to unleash hell in and outside stages! Since their foundation the band has surely been noticed by their outstanding and old fashioned death black metal, a band to follow with all attention for future endeavours!
Empheris: have been formed in early 1995 and they play an old fashioned black death metal that has been their trademark since early times!
Wraith: are an old-school death metal band from members of Empheris that has been formed in 2010.
Purifier: were founded in 2007 by Ronve (see also Conquest Icon) and Empherion. Their sound is a old fashioned black death metal!
Necroist: were formed in early 2011 by Empherion and Nymphobh, they play some ancient black death metal sound, like the band states, it derives its inspirations from wide range of music and non-music influences. It sounds like a scream of Elvis Presley in the deepest quadrants of beyond the space and time…

The new split album musically:
Once you have a split release with many bands like on these one, you will probably fear a musical dispersion, yet on "We are the Ancients" you will find a musical uniformity, not only because the most of the bands share members with each other but by the fact that the bands sound is damn compatible, giving this split-CD a special dynamism and the right dose of contrast, all this without having any of the bands sound detaching too much from the previous one and so on! A great combination of black and death metal, all in a underground and old-school fashion style! While bands like Empheris, Purifier and Necroist are closer to black metal, on the other hand bands like Conquest Icon and Wraith are closer to death metal, still in a very own blackened way!
I am sure that fans of bands like Deicide, Obituary, Belphegor, Blood Red Throne, Vomitory, etc. would be delighted with the death metal approach, yet in the other hand, fans of bands like Marduk, Watain, Horna, Tjuder, etc. would be pleased with the black metal vein on the participating bands! In all this is a diabolical piece that shall please extreme metal fans in general and even more if you are fed up of crystal clean sound and over-produced releases. This one sure keeps the essence of the ancient metal times, all with a good quality sound, maximum power and fearsomeness!
The album recordings at KPD / NAD / ABH studios and production by Andy Blakk, Empherion and Imp are just about great, keeping the right underground sound for this great underground piece of extreme metal!

The album highlights:
Like I said before this album is quite uniform and it's hard to pick up highlights on such a great blackened death metal split album, yet I need to mention some tracks that may in a way or another pierce your ears with an higher impact and stubbornly keep you listening to them on and on!
Tracks like Empheris "Nos es Antiquitas" or "Necrocosmosis" are a perfect expression of the bands virulent and terrorizing black death metal, brutally wicked and fearsome. Even in a higher level you have the Conquest Icon contribution with tracks like "I Annihilate" or "Remnants" simply top quality blackened death metal in a addicting old-fashioned way, I am sure it shall give you loads of good flashbacks from other extreme metal legends, yet without losing their own identity. Tracks like Wraith "And Thou Shalt Decay" and "Defiance Tastes Like Life Itself" unleash hell like a Beast out of the infernal pits, brutal and destructive work! Necroist "Trinity of Necroism" shall take you into a dark ride into darkest phantasmagoria, a great way to end up this album, exploring blackest landscapes of death and horror!

The Epilog:
In all "We are the Ancients" split CD is a damn outstanding piece that will not disappoint any underground death and black metal fans. This is for sure a great extreme metal album to feature on your own collection. Every die-hard old-school fan should own it!
This split CD proves that the Polish Underground is producing great sound and keeping the ancient spirit of extreme metal alive! I am sure you will find this release a tormenting pleasure to the ears!
Dark wisdom never forgotten, like an epic darkened magic that allowed Civilisations to prosper! Mankind falls to arise once again... we are the Ancients!

BLACK ALTAR Polish black metal legends have joined forces with their blackest arts allies Varathron and Thornspawn to created the split "Emissaries of the Darkened Call"! A true piece of unholy blasphemy, as brutal as terrorizing as it could be!
Black Altar been born in a blasphemous Sabbath in the Night of Walpurgia Anno Bastardi 1996 by the hand of the dark lord Shadow, the only remaining founding member, since then the band has been rising with unholy strenght to set a mark on Polish black metal scene, yet they have become legends on what they do.
True to the underground metal movement, they've been raising fans all across this black metal universe! This unholy crusade by the Black Altar guardian Shadow has given them due respect on this strict musical genre.
With their own terrorizing black metal sound, Black Altar reached with their latest full length "Death Fanaticist" allot of good reviews and critics, it has been a true highlight on the bands career!

This split release unveals a quite uniform quality black metal release, lead by Black Altar experience and conjured blackest sound, this release has all to please the tortured black metal adepts ears, and yet catching some death metallers attention, this with a twisted and sick unholy sound that shall haunt you for a good pack of time!
For those who don't know the band yet, the Greek Varathron sound and dynamics are closer to the one played by Black Altar, yet with the add of some Hellenic spice and melody here and there, all this without the loss of the brutal sound with some death metal elements into. By the other hand, Thornspawn unleash a true rough and ugly black metal sound, damn old school and dirty, anyhow... how should fucking black metal be? Right? Sick and twisted as Hell \m/

On this split release Black Altar sound reaches another step forwards, the sound is each time deeper, dark, pale and sure to set horror on your wicked frostbitten minds, without a doubt a sound from a cult band doomed to be underated on this underground metal layer, “Emissaries of the Darkened Call” is a piece hidded from the masses but known by the enemies of the hypocritical and hideous christian lambs.

The production is quite fitting on each bands evil intentions, yet Thornspawn may sound too analogue and dirty, yet I am sure the band intended it to be in this way! In the other hand the sound by Black Altar and Varathron is close to other bands you may associate with their sound, bands like Urgehal, Watain, Tjuder, Belphegor, Satyricon, Immortal, DarkThrone, Rotting Christ etc... the split was recorded at BAT studio by Marek Heimburger (Black Altar), Roller Coaster Studio, Patras GR by Haris and AchilleasC (Varathron) and Temple of the Beast studios by Andres Magana and the band (Thornspawn).

The release is quite uniform in quality but I should mention some highlights like "Nighthunter" a classic black metal song , "Deep Cut into the Open Wound of Mankind" a crescent sharpen sacrficial dagger into your blackened hearts, or the brutal blasphemy by the name of "I'm Demon" by Black Altar other good tracks are  "Arawn's Reign" and the Black Sabbath cover "Ancient Warrior" by Varathron, songs that may attach easly to your ears once you first listen to them!

In all "Emissaries of the Darkened Call" is a great black metal piece for adepts of deep dark, sinister and unholy black metal, as obscure as it intended to be! This is without a doubt an horror piece of darkest forms to add to your blaspheme quality collection! A release filled up with blackest hymns of destruction and terrorizing atmospheres, you must check it out and be cursed for eternity by the "emissaries of the darkened call"!

HATE CONFIRMED ON INFERNO FEST IN OSLO !

We are proud to inform you that HATE will perform on one of the most prestigious metal festivals in Scandinavia - Inferno Festival in Oslo, Norway. The band will hit the main stage on the 28th in Rockefeller at 7.45 PM playing before Dark Funeral and Deicide. This means HATE will skip the first show of Hypocrisy tour in Essen, Germany. Polish extreme metal machine HATE have announced a European tour in support of their upcoming opus “Solarflesh – a gospel of radiant divinity” which is going to be released via Napalm in Jan/Feb this year! The band will appear as a direct support for Swedish death metal titans Hypocrisy. The tour is scheduled to begin on March 28th and wrap up on April 14th, however it is highly possible that some more dates will be added to the list below. It‘s been a while since HATE have hit the road in Europe and they are really looking forward to that! More info to come soon.
