Nirnaeth became an essential of the French extreme metal scene with a
devastating Black Death Metal.
In 2002 Yamaël (drums) joined Mutill (guitar) and Malaria
(bass). After a long search Zigouille (voice) will complete the line
up fall 2003.
Nirnaeth since then has shared stages with bands like Nunslaughter,
Necrodeath, Negura Bunget, Panchrysia, Gorath, Handful Of Hate, Asmodée,
Merrimack, Vorkreist, Lord, Otargos ...
From his two previous recordings, "Nothing But Ashes" (2004 demo / sold
out) and "Thrown Athwart The Darkness" (full length 2006 / Great Dane
Records / sold out), Nirnaeth has imposed its own style. Incisive,
brutal and effective, the titles of the band have received unanimously positive
opinions from the specialized press and fans.
In June 2008 Mutill obtained an endorsement from Laboga (Motorhead,
Behemoth, Annihilator, Hate Eternal, etc.).
"Splendour Of The Abyss" (Great Dane Records, december 2009) is
the second full lenght of Nirnaeth. Recorded at Studio Midnight,
"Splendour Of The Abyss" is more organic, more morbid and more intense.

This well-known names of the French underground Black Metal scene unite for a
raging call to blasphemous war !
Roaming the dark caves of the Black Metal scene since 15 years each, having
released two full-lengths each, both being established names of the French
underground, it was obvious that some day these two would have to share a split

AZZIARD, right back from their 2015 Hellfest Open Air
Festival gig, recorded "Unus Mundus", a brand new track to

Breve História do Metal Português, escrito por Dico (de seu nome
real Eduardo Almeida).
A obra, autoeditada, foi originalmente publicada em 2013 e aborda agora a
história do Heavy Metal luso até 2015, beneficiando de um significativo
aumento de páginas. A edição revista e aumentada de Breve História do Metal
Português inclui 326 páginas (a anterior tinha 200), sendo que todas as
décadas, à exceção da de 60, incluem agora bastante texto novo, que vem
aprofundar vários fenómenos e factos relatados na edição original, por um lado;
e abordar outros não incluídos em 2013, por outro. Encontramo-nos portanto,
perante uma obra extremamente ambiciosa e rigorosa, não só em termos de
abrangência temporal mas também a nível da investigação efetuada no âmbito da
mesma.
“O objetivo da primeira edição era sobretudo mostrar que houve todo um
percurso a nível do Rock pesado em Portugal antes dos anos 80. Portanto,
centrei-me mais nas décadas de 60 e 70, tendo abordado os anos 80 e 90 mais
subtilmente”, explica o autor.
Na edição de 2015 o objetivo é bem distinto. “Nesta nova edição relato o
percurso do Heavy Metal em Portugal até 2015. A primeira terminava em
1999, mas esta abrange factos até ao final de 2015”, esclarece Dico. A
nova edição, revista e aumentada, inclui também novos testemunhos de numerosas
figuras importantes no âmbito do Underground nacional.
Além disso,
Breve História do Metal Português, novamente editada pelo próprio autor,
inclui agora um guia de registos essenciais do Metal luso desde os anos 70 até
2015, abrangendo demo-tapes, demo-CD’s, singles, EP’s, álbuns e DVD’s. Ao
todo, são cerca de 350 itens organizados por década, num guia essencial para os
verdadeiros fãs.
Mas as novidades acerca desta obra não se restringem aos conteúdos escritos.
Breve História do Metal Português tem agora imagem renovada, desde a
capa/contracapa (que incluem agora badanas) até à paginação, passando pela

for their constant sound evolution. Brutal, Epic, Melodic... yet with their own
Latin essence and identity.

NOCTEM starts as Extreme Metal act in April 2001 but its real project as
a Blackened Death Metal combo starts in 2007 with its last change of
line-up and new musical definition.
In 2002 Noctem records its first demo “Unholy blood” which was
commercialized for 2 years. After several line-up changes the band continues its
way performing in national shows and composing new tracks, totally immersed in
the seek of a more personal music style.
The band commercializes their live mcd, entitled “Live 2004” (self-
produced and recorded at their natal city) for two years.
Noctem takes a break in 2005 and after different line-up changes a
restructure takes place in their formation.
In 2007 it’s time for the release of the last demo of the band, entitled “God
Among Slaves”. This opus received a good success from the online specialized
press and metalheads.
The band, composed by its new members, fulfills different tours through their
country. In July 2008 the band signs with Noisehead Records (Austria) and
carries out the “Noctem European Tour 08” where the band performs through
different countries: Spain, Portugal, France, Andorra, UK, Belgium and Italy.
In January of 2009 Noctem enters the studio to record their debut LP
“Divinity” at Vienna (At) which counts with the collaborations of
Christos Antoniou (Septic flesh and Chaos star) and Leal (ex-Forever Slave).
The album was released in April 2009 through Noisehead Records in Europe
and in May 2009 started being distributed through RELAPSE RECORDS in USA.
Few months after the release of the album Noctem figures in the no18 of
the top 20 of spanish artists record sales in 2009, 310 & 313 HEAVY ROCK

Noctem performs in different presentations of the album “Divinity”
being included in festivals and several tours, like the ones at Spain or
Portugal in 2009, sharing stage with headliners such as Malevolent
Creation (USA),Vomitory (Sweden) and Napalm Death.
In January of 2010 the band starts touring Europe, supporting Incantation
(USA) and Hate (Pl) through different countries: UK, France, Belgium,
Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Germany and Czech Republic.
After a few shows at Spain, and the recording process of the third and
most ambitious video extracted from “Divinity”, in May 2010 the band is
included in the “Collectors of the King Tour “, supporting
Ragnarok(Norway) through Europe: Austria, Germany, Poland, Belgium and
The Netherlands.
In September 2010, the third video extractes from “Divinity”, entitled
with the same name, was worldwide released; Including the collaboration of
Christos Antoniou (Septic Flesh) in the orchestral arrangements and a team
formed by more than 80 members.
In November 2010 Noctem tours Europe for the third time in the same year
presenting their album with Gorgoroth (Nor) and Cavus (Fin), also sharing
stages with bands such as Finntroll (Fin) and Carach Angren (Nl).
In February 2011, the band starts the recording sessions in the Ultrasound
Studios 2 at Moita (Portugal), counting with Daniel Cardoso (Anathema)
as producer, for their new and second album of studio, foreseen for 2011.
In march of 2011 the band announces their signing with the record label
Rising Records for the European release of their new album: “Oblivion”.
The album was released in Spain in April 2011 and in Europe in June 2011 and
licensed in USA through Metal Blade Records in October 2011.
“Oblivion” received an outstanding feedback in Europe and North America.
The “Oblivion Spanish Tour 2011” started in the end of April and
Noctem performed on the national stages during May, June, August and the end
of September.
In summer 2011 and after receiving a great response from the international
specialized metal press and fans, Noctem announced their appearance in
the “Lux Mundi Europe Tour′′, where the band shared stage with
international well known acts as Samael, Melechesh and Keep of Kalessin.
In December 2011 Noctem tours Finland for their first time in a
4-dates mini tour, including Helsinki, Porvoo, Kokkola and Turku.
The band starts 2012 touring Europe in several tours as the “Iberian
Conquest” with Coprolith and the “European Conquest”,
including big summer festivals such as Jam Rock Fest, Czech Death Fest, Costa
de Fuego, Leyendas del Rock and Motocultor Fest (sharing stage with Marilyn
Manson, Gun n’ Roses, Satyricon, Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, In flames and a big
etc.)
In september of the same year Noctem is included as special guest in the
Serpent Sermon Tour through Europe, sharing stage with Marduk and
Immolation and in
December 2012 Noctem will join Enthroned, Forgotten Tomband Impiety
on tour through Europe in the Obsidium European Campaign.
Exilium was recorded in the summer of 2013 in the AGR Studios (Valencia)
produced and mastered by Daniel Cardoso (Anathema). The album is be
released by Art Gates Records in Europe in April 7th.
In Summer 2014 Noctem inks deal with NorthAmerican label Prosthetic
Records to release “Exilium” September 16th in Australia and The
Americas!!!

FESTIVAL changing place - AGAIN!
So you were understandably wondering why the heck we didn't post the festival's
final flyer and schedule, right?
Long story short: last Friday, a reporter or someone posing as a reporter for a
well-known and poorly-regarded Portuguese newspaper contacted the City Hall of
the location where the festival was going to take place. Said person slandered
XXXicken Fest, describing it as a right-wing support event (right-wing,
seriously?!). That, along with a pack of other lies, led to the cancellation of
the festival in that location.
All the licenses were correct (and on that point, our deepest gratitude to the
team behind the Pedrogão Camping Park for all their support). We took a long
time to announce the new venue so we could be 100% sure that it would be
impossible to anyone to sabotage us again. But there you go, a lot of time and
money invested on all this, and once AGAIN "someone" sinks this festival, this
time with just an email. Truth be told, we know who's hiding in the shadows
creating this mess and trying to boycott us.
However, our willpower and the fact that we're in the right on this are stronger
than all the lies.
We are persistent, and the festival WILL HAPPEN, on the same dates, but in
another city: Cantanhede, at the Rex Bowling Bar! Cantanhede lies by the
Portuguese coast. You can look up "Rex Bowling, Rua Santo António,
Cantanhede, Portugal" in
Google Maps. Yes, it's roughly 20km away from the beach, but we have
already secured a bus shuttle service at a symbolic price for those who wish to
enjoy the sun and the waves. There's a camping park nearby (500m), which will be
free for ticket buyers. There's also a hotel equally close to the venue. We'll
have more information on it soon.
We have booked the flights for nearly all the bands (you can check with them if
you're so inclined). However, when we were taking care of the last few flights,
we received the forementioned bad news and had to resize and rethink all the
festival. Due to that change and the fact that some bands cancelled at the last
minute because of scheduling conflicts with their daytime jobs, we have
consequentially lowered the prices for the tickets bought on the days of the
event.
The price for the 3-day pass was reduced from 68€ to 60€. The
daily prices will also undergo price drops: Thursday - 25€ (was 28€);
Friday - 30€ (was 33€); Saturday - 30€ (was 33€). We should note, the price
for three-day pre-purchased passes remains at 50€, and they're on offer

Also, if you can't get all your money back when cancelling your stay in the
previous city, contact us with proof and we will compensate you with food,
drinks or in some other way!
We truly hope you guys can understand how difficul this has been to us and how
this is the last chance in order to make XXXicken fest happen—but it will
happen!

WITCHHAMMER, started up in 1986 - Tor Erik, Jan Erik and Per Ståle
formed Treatless! After some local gigs with another local act Loader
- the 3 piece needed a bass player and a second guitar player, so they "borrowed"
Finn and Peder from their befriended band.
WITCHHAMMER was now starting to burn the flame.. The album 1487
was recorded, and Peder wanted to focus on his studies - and Frank
was hired for a few months, until Morten and Frank switched bands.

1487 was released in 1034 copies (only vinyl) 4th of march 1990. All sold
out throughout europe, and the guys played all over with Artch and
Equinox also starting to finalize the writing for The Lost Tapes.
Bootleg (a stage in Oslo who were filming all gigs, and aired all gigs on friday/saturday)
was visited several times during 1990/1991.
After Morten left in the beginning of 92 - the band continued as a 4
piece, with Finn switching to guitar and Per Ståle both handling
vocals and bass. Renato came in shortly after, so Per could
concentrate on vocals, and the bass was back in the hands of a bass player :)
This line up recorded a demo, and was also on a local compilation with the song
Cold Turkey. in 1995 they attended Whalestock festival, which
became the end for the time, and a hiatus was agreed.
In late 2000 the band was now back in line up with Tor Erik, Jan Erik, Finn,
Per Ståle and Morten - and released The Lost Tapes, 10 years after it
was recorded. The tapes WAS lost as Studio2 were shut down, and all 2"
tapes were gone.. A fully packed reunion and release gig was held (january 2001)
in Sarpsborg - but the band was not ready to continue - until -. Cafe Oscar, 2nd
april 2005 - as support for their friends in Loader, Morten also helping
out as guitar player in Loader for this gig.

Now the flame was burning again! The band played all over, also headlining
Swordbrothers Festival in Germany, Karmøygeddon in Haugesund (WITCHHAMMER's
second hometown!) and many more. 1487 was also released as a 15th
annivercary on CD - the band was working with new songs again. Per Ståle
left the band, and Thomas was recruited,- Chapter 3: In Serenity And
Awe was finally finished and released.

HATE has always meant the essence of extreme and unholy metal, and as such,
had tremendous influence over forming Polish metal scene in the nineties and
nillies. Established in 1990 in Warsaw by a guitarist and vocalist ATF Sinner,
the band has quickly become one of the leading acts in the Polish underground.
HATE's music was always elaborate death metal with lyrics concentrating
on apocalyptic themes, spiritual mysticism and dark part of Self, showing
distinct anti-god attitude. In 1992 the first demo "Abhorrence" was
released by a small underground label HateProductions. After
numerous line-up changes and releasing a series of records available solely in
their native Poland, the group inked their first international record deal with
an American label World War III in 2000. At that point the band was given
an opportunity to leave obscurity of Polish underground in which they remained
for a decade. Soon HATE's early material was published on two discs
titled “Holy Dead Trinity” (2000) and “Cain’s Way" (2002). A year
later, the band signed another contract with French-based label – Listenable,
and released their next, highly acclaimed album “Awakening of the Liar”
(2003), which is considered one of the Polish death metal masterpieces. In 2004
the group was working on an official DVD material titled “the Litanies of
Satan”, which was soon published by Metal Mind Productions. In that
period the band’s style acquired new characteristics - industrial and ambient
elements appeared in the background of the main riffs. This kind of arrangements
were further developed on the next album titled “Anaclasis - a gospel of
malice and hatred” (2005), which no longer presented classical death metal
but ingenious combination of death, black and heavy metal with distinct
industrial influences. “Anaclasis” got great reviews in almost all metal
magazine across Europe and was highly acclaimed as one of the most innovative
records in the genre. In support of the album, the band went on their first
full-fledged European tour with Carpathian Forest and Keep of Kalessin
and appeared on a few important festivals such as PartySan Open Air, Winter
Assault and more. In 2007 the band once again went on a European tour, this
time accompanied by their countrymen Decapitated. January 2008 saw
another album from HATE which was titled “Morphosis” and released
again via Listenable. The record showed fast musical development of the
band, as well as the production part. HATE got offers from numerous
festivals, such as Neurotic Death Fest, Brutal Assault, Screamfest, Metalcamp,
Summer Breeze O.A., Metal Heads’ Mission and more. In May 2008, the group
realized their first official video-clip for the song “Threnody”, which
was shot in an actual coal mine in Silesia/Poland. The album “Morphosis”
has also been officially released in the USA, South America and Russia. The year
2010 saw the band's further development and intensive touring schedule. Their
next album "Erebos" was supported by intensive tours in both Europe and
America with groups such as Hypocrisy, Sepultura, Rotting Christ and Mayhem.
The band also visited Brazil, Mexico and Russia reaching as far east as Siberia
with their shows. Coming back home from the tour, HATE shot their second
official video for the title track "Erebos". In 2012 the group inked a
new record agreement with Austrian-based label Napalm Records. The album
titled "Solarflesh" was released under the new flag in the beginning of
2013 receiving a lot of praise in the music press and gaining the band more
recognition the world over. In March/April 2013 the band was traveling through
Germany on a European tour with Sweden's death metallers Hypocrisy. In
the early morning of April 6th, HATE's bassist Sławek "Mortifier"
Archangielskij died in his sleep near the city of Munchberg. He was
discovered lifeless in the morning by other band members. An ambulance was
immediately called in and Slawek was reanimated, but to no avail. An autopsy
revealed that the cause of death was cardiac arrhythmia. Mortifer's
tragic and unexpected passing was a hard blow and the band's contunuation was at
question for some time. After a few weeks, however, the musicians announced that
they would come back. Having Mortifer's wife Aleksandra on bass
guitar, HATE took part in Hellfest Festival in France in June
2013. Afterwards the band played a series of summer festivals around Europe with
a session bassist and announced that they would work on a new record. In March
2014 HATE set out on a tour across Europe again, this time in the company
of Norway's Kampfar, and in June they entered Hertz Studio in
Poland to start recording the 9-th full-length album with release pegged for
early 2015 through Naplam Records. The new opus will come out under the
title of "Crusade:Zero".

NOCTEM, Spanish blackened death metal tyrants have been recording new material for the bands fourth overall release.
NOCTEM have been working on Firework Studios in Valencia, Spain
where they have been working with Enrique Mompo and Tore Stjerna (Watain,
Tribulation, Valkyrja). The band has been recording guitars, bass, drums, vocals, choirs, effects
and samples for the yet-to-be-titled album.
The new piece of extreme metal art is expected to be
released later this year via Prosthetic
Records (N.America & UK/EU) and
Art Gates Records (Spain).

NOCTEM, Spanish blackened death metal tyrants are excited to announce
that they will begin recording new material for the bands fourth overall release

Swedish death metal unit has unleashed two new tracks for their new album "Doomsday
Rituals" the new album will be out July 8 via Agonia Records.

The follow-up to 2014's come-back record "Redeeming Filth" will be titled
"Doomsday Rituals" and its cover, made by Bahrull Marta of
Abomination Imagery.
Surprisingly reunited in 2014 after a nearly eight-year hiatus, the band dosen't
want the fans to be kept waiting another near-decade for a new installment.
Recordings of "Doomsday Rituals" are taking place at Wing Studioswith DEMONICAL's
Sverker Widgren, and the whole process is already well in the middle.
Martin Schulman (bass) commented: "Musically the album is a natural follow-up to
"Redeeming Filth". Heavy riffing, deep brutal vocals, everything from slow via
mid-tempo to faster stuff, a perfect mix of the early 90's Florida and Stockholm
sound".

Italian five-piece death metallers HIDEOUS
DIVINITY have released their new videoclip, this time of the title track
of their new album "Cobra Verde", the title is inspired by a
German film from
1987 by the same title.... which was itself based on a 1980 novel,
The Viceroy of Ouidah, by the British author Bruce Chatwin.
Read what our guitarist Enrico S. has to say about the videoclip: "The surrealistic, soaring visions populating Herzog's Cobra Verde
haunted our songwriting like a nightmare, and inspired the concept of our second
album. When it was time to think about a videoclip, we found ourselves in front
of a fascinating challenge: how to visually render the atmosphere of an entire
epic movie in the space of a song. After watching the work of the young and
talented Guilherme
Henriques Silva (Belphegor, Heidra, Wormed, Skinning, etc.), we knew he
was the right person for the job. Filmed between Roma (in the evocative location
of Tor Caldara, where the mighty Ben Hurwas shot) and Porto, the
videoclip captures the magic and the occult of our African curse made flesh. The
title track, with its dramatic mid tempos and pauses, made the rest. Join us,
one more time, in the land where there the dead are more alive than the living.
Fear no end, fear no spirit! "
