is a band capable of bringing beauty within chaos, death and despair... a delightful melodic death

In 2010, guitarist Pedro Quelhas and drummer Cristiano Brito left
gothic rock band Deep Cut, determined to venture into a new project. Soon
after, they joined forces with guitarist Dinis Martins, bassist Rúben
Oliveira and lead singer Ricardo Pereira, and founded Moonshade.
Influenced at first by northern Europe’s recent wave of melodic death metal
bands, and with a clear goal of combining melodic and extreme elements, they
released “The Path Of Redemption”, their first EP, which came out solely
in digital format and was produced by Pedro Quelhas himself. After a few
concerts, came the first lineup changes: Cristiano and Rúben left
the band and bassist Afonso Aguiar joined the ranks.
In 2014, the band released their second EP, entitled “Dream | Oblivion” –
their first work to be released in physical form. The album, which featured
Luís Neto as a session drummer, was also produced by Pedro Quelhas,
and its release was accompanied by the release of the “Goddess Eternal”
single, as well as the addition of drummer Sandro Rodrigues to the lineup.
In 2015, guitarist Daniel Laureano and keyboard player Nuno Barbosa
joined the band, marking the dawn of a new era for Moonshade, who
spent the next couple of years performing on some of Portugal’s biggest stages,
such as Vagos Open Air, Pax Julia Metal Fest and Morbid Spring Fest,
among others.
At the tail end of 2017, Afonso left the band and keyboardist Nuno became
the band’s new bass player, a function he accumulated with his former one. This
lineup recorded the “Sun Dethroned” album, the band’s debut full length.
The record, a conceptual piece exploring the balance between good and evil, and
its necessity in life, was released by Spanish label Art Gates Records,
in 2018.
After a string of successful shows and Sandro’s departure, the band
announced their first international shows, as part of the Dethroning Stars
Tour, alongside fellow northern Portuguese band Apotheus, and
featuring Diogo Mota as a live drummer.
Already peeking at their tenth anniversary, Moonshade are more alive than
ever, in their constant aim to musically redefine the beauty within chaos, death

drummer and guitarist!

Two new wraith commanders have joined the legion. Luís Dias will be

GUITARIST LEAVES THE BAND! [2020.08.10] Portuguese sensation melodic death metal band MOONSHADE
have announced the departure of their guitarist Daniel Laureano.
The band comments:"Daniel Laureano is no longer a member of
Moonshade.
We deeply thank him for his service over the years as not only our guitarist,
but also photographer and overall media overlord, as his many contributions will
always be an essential part of this breathtaking adventure that has been Sun
Dethroned, of which we are incredibly proud of, considering what we have
achieved so far. We also wish Dani the best of luck for his project A Constant
Storm, and invite you all, once again, to give it a listen!
As for Moonshade, we soldier on as a three-piece act for now, as the
follow-up of Sun Dethroned is already on the pre-production stage. We
also booked some amazing shows in 2021 so we can bring our new creation to the
masses, "with a little help from our friends"!

FINISH IBERIAN TOUR! [2019.11.11] Portuguese sensation melodic death metal band MOONSHADE
have finished their co-headline Iberian tour with their countrymates
APOTHEUS.
"The Dethroning Stars Tour is now in the books - a grand total of 7
shows across the Iberian Peninsula, a whole lot of miles on the road accompanied
by long nights of intense celebration.
We would like to thank our brothers from Apotheus for all the friendship
and comradery during the time we spent together, through thick and thin. As
roadmates, we forged a bond that will never be erased.
We would also like to show our eternal appreciation to every single fan that
came to see us play, bought a piece of merch, and/or stuck around to talk to us
after each show. As always, your unending support for this project leaves us
speechless.
This picture represents one of the most iconic moments of communion between
musicians and fans during this iberian incursion. Here, we are accompanied by
our friend Alberto Angular, after he granted us the pleasure of inviting
us to his amazing restaurant in Valencia, La Piedra Angular. If you're a
heavy metal fan, you should stop by. If you're a Quentin Tarantino fan,
then you definitely should stop by.
Be sure that the future holds a lot of exciting things for us here at the
Moonshade camp. We have begun preparations for a tidalwave of interesting
