[2019.10.24]

GAEREA enigmatic black metal force from Portugal who has most recently signed a record deal with Season of Mist for a new album to be released in 2020 has just released their new music video for the track "Whispers" taken from the debut album "Unsettling Whispers"!

The band comments:
"Ladies and Gentleman of the vast Vortex,

Members of GAEREA churn out scintillating death/doom metal that's expansive and harrowing. 'Lone' is their debut full length and yet the songwriting is accomplished, as if this is what they were meant to be doing all along. There's nothing forced here - the music oscillates between the pensive, slow parts to the cathartic, faster ones with relative ease, almost intuitively. The texture of the music does full justice to it all, enhancing the feelings of despair, helplessness and fear, while the Paolo Girardi painting captures the mood perfectly. This is one of the most anticipated releases in the death/doom spectrum and fans wouldn't be disappointed in the least.

Recorded, Mixed and Mastered by Ricardo Oliveira at Stone Sound Studios

GAEREA BIOGRAPHY:

GAEREA have turned the genre of black metal on its head. While most rehash the classic sound, this Portuguese band take it forward and seamlessly integrate influences from other genres like hardcore and sludge. Sonically defiant and cohesive, GAEREA smash preconceived notions and deliver music they can call their own. ‘Unsettling Whispers’ is the much awaited full length album coming after their universally lauded self-titled EP. Transcending Obscurity Records will be putting it out on multiple formats with excellent packaging that includes gatefold LP, alternate artwork box set and 8-panel digipak with a 20-page booklet. Artful, stirring and deeply immersive, GAEREA are a band to watch out for. Their treatment of the music is not only meticulous but also unforgettable.

"Let's make one thing clear. We need to stress the fact that our era is lost in a huge void of numbness. We are here to bring and present you what your system could not solve by it self. We'll cover the daylight with ashes and smash the massive skull that's blocking your brain and will to evolve. We're GAEREA."

OAK - REVEAL DETAILS OF "LONE" DEBUT ALBUM!
[2019.01.07]

Atmospheric death/doom metal band OAK with GAEREA members are on the verge of releasing their debut full length titled ‘Lone’ to be released worldwide on all formats via Transcending Obscurity Records. OAK fit well alongside their doom metal label mates such as Officium Triste, Jupiterian, Eremit, Drug Honkey, Illimitable Dolor, Et Moriemur, Towards Atlantis Lights, etc.

Label owner Kunal Choksi states, “I’ve had a fantastic experience working with Gaerea and when I came to know that their members are involved in another band playing doom metal called Oak, I was immediately intrigued. Upon listening to their music, it was clear that I had to work with them. Their level of professionalism is maintained over here as well, with everything sounding just the way it should and also careful consideration been given to the artwork and overall aesthetics. Despite being a new band, the members are experienced and know their way around things and I’m sure this will go down as a significant release in the genre in 2019.”

Oak members comment, “We’re thrilled to finally announce Oak’s first Full length is coming to you via Transcending Obscurity Records. Being friends with Kunal for such a long time and having worked with TOR in the past, it felt very natural to deliver this first experience via the Indian ranks, which never stop to amaze us. Oak is formed by passionate individuals and you can’t often find such committed team to work with. We feel at home. “Lone” is a long journey where you find yourself in the middle of multiple scenarios and you can almost see the landscaping as you hear the gigantic sounds that echo through all of those places. From the burden one could carry to hold this world to the claustrophobic maze that traps your soul, “Lone” was fully produced and mastered at Stone Sound Studios (The Ominous Circle, Colosso, etc,) by Ricardo Oliveira. The majestic cover art was crafted by one of the most talented hands of our time, Paolo Girardi.”

Transcending Obscurity Records label owner Kunal Choksi states, “It’s an honour to work with a fine band in Gaerea from Portugal. Much like their new label mates Jupiterian, they’ve got something special going on aesthetically and musically, and existing fans will be happy with their latest full length which is mature and just as haunting. Special thanks goes out to Tito Vespasiani for making this happen. Pre-orders for this extraordinary release will be up very soon on both CD and gatefold LP.”

"Portuguese black metal group Gaerea have made on of the year’s best black metal albums with debut full-length Unsettling Whispers. The follow up to 2016’s self-titled EP, Unsettling Whispers is haunting, generally mid-tempo black metal that separates itself from the pack thanks to hearty doses of dark melody, top notch production and skilled songwriting." Decibel Magazine

Gaerea comment, “Nearly two years after the release of our debut self-titled EP, It is now with utmost pleasure that we announce a strong collaboration with Transcending Obscurity Records to unleash a new piece of furious black art experience under the name of ‘Unsettling Whispers’. This is undoubtedly a more ambitious step and manifestly crafts the revival of the existence of Gaerea. The unsettling reflection of a dying world who just stares while in the front row of the edge of the immense abyss where death is nothing more than the restart of the same putrid routine. It’s the ultimate line who separates the individual emotions from the other ents crawling at the surface.”

Recorded by Miguel Tereso at Demigod Recordings, Portugal.
It features now the majestic handcrafted work of Stefan “Khaos Diktator Design”.
