"BELLUM REGIIS"  DETAILS:

Slavic black/death metal institution HATE will release their "Bellum Regiis" full-length on May 2nd on Metal Blade Records.

In advance of the release, today the band unveils their first single, "Iphigenia." Sinner elaborates, "in Greek mythology, Iphigenia was the daughter of King Agamemnon and Queen Clytemnestra, and a princess of Mycenae. The music came first in this case, but there was an immediate need to fill with content and the story of Iphigenia seemed to connect with it beautifully. It’s a story about sacrificing your life for a greater cause. But the example of Iphigenia is striking because she at one point is given a choice and can save her own life, yet she decides to be put to death and in this way help support the Greek side in the Trojan War. It’s a story of sacrifice which would, all the way since the days of Aeschylus and Euripides, divide an audience of listeners. Is it monstrous of her father to be willing to sacrifice her due to the pressure of his generals? To appease Artemis? Is it then heroic or brainwashed that she would sacrifice herself for her people’s cause?"

With a dozen ferocious and lauded albums since 1996′s Daemon Qui Fecit Terra, HATE‘s lucky thirteenth album, "Bellum Regiis", sees the unrelenting Polish quartet forging a bolder and more aggressive style than ever. "Bellum Regiis" nine songs see vocalist/guitarist ATF Sinner, guitarist Domin, drummer Nar-Sil, and bassist Tiermes honing a modern sound rife with eerie atmosphere and depth. Produced by David Castillo (Candlemass, Carcass, Dark Tranquillity, Katatonia) at Stockholm’s Grondahl Studio, "Bellum Regiis" is lyrically a more “humanity focused and personal” album than 2021′s "Rugia" while its songs are timely aural and visual exploration of, according to the vocalist, “a struggle for power and everything that comes with it.”

Formed in Warsaw in 1990, HATE has been hailed as a “hallmark of consistency” and praised as a “sleek and tight death metal monster.” Since 2017′s Tremendum, the band has focused on nature and its mysteries as a main source of inspiration. As Sinner explains, “whether that’s the nature within us, around us, or that we see from afar, the perspectives gained and how they relate to different overarching themes have driven each album.” Where 2019′s "Auric Gates Of Veles" focused on death, the Slavic perception of death in particular, "Bellum Regiis" finds HATE delving into “humanity and why are we, as creatures, so deeply motivated by concepts like power, wealth, glory, and faith. The main theme is a struggle for power and everything that comes with it.”

Hence the album title, which translates to “A War Of Royalty” or “A War Of Kings.” The band’s frontman looks at the hard questions surrounding power – does its attainment make us aberrant or are we aberrant to begin with? The title track encompasses the LP’s leitmotif. “As a song, "Bellum Regiis" has both a deep melancholy and a sense of grandeur,” he says. “The vocals laid down by [renowned singer and voice teacher who runs a holistic arts center in Bialystok] Eliza Sacharczuk give the song a strong sense of time. Whether that’s nostalgia, reminiscence, regret, or preparation for the future is in the eye of the beholder. These wars, these struggles, have been ongoing since the dawn of our existence. Whether they are futile or not, they are scars on our very nature.”

Fans may notice some commonality between "Erebos" and "Bellum Regiis" in the character of the compositions and overall sound, with "Bellum Regiis" being richer in style and with more black metal elements to it. “Between female vocals, orchestration, samples, and acoustic guitars, there are a lot of moving pieces that help set this album apart,” notes Sinner. “My vocals have also changed quite a bit over the years. They’re more nuanced and wider-ranging, able to portray emotions and meanings in a more powerful way.”

GAEREA arrived shrouded in mystery. The masked sensations emerged from pandemic limbo with a vision for black metal that was guided not by myths or pagan beliefs but a purging of emotion. With "Coma",GAEREA are no longer strictly a black metal band. Instead, they're breaking to the forefront of extreme metal. Behind black shrouds of obscurity and desolation, the performers of GAEREA deliver their odes in cascading maelstroms of aggression and beauty. Emerging from the age of pandemic to whatever awaits humanity next, the dark horde remains on the frontlines of the next generation of extreme metal. With an EP and three albums to their name, GAEREA has rapidly distinguished themselves from the thousands of bands toiling away in the underground. Brewing their cauldron of sound from a recipe of pounding black-metal blast mixed with a touch of harrowed, reflective longing, many devotees of the darkened arts have flocked to their banner. With the emergence of third full-length album Mirage, those numbers certainly grew.

GAEREA met a challenge when releasing their second album during the pandemic, the aptly titled Limbo, to excellent world reception. In the meantime, they found the total suspension of interactive life as it was previously known to be the perfect breeding ground for further creation and making.

Sizzling with ambition from day one, GAEREA may present one unique face to their audience, masked and enshrouded, but the truth is they have not remained changeless.

As their previous album name Mirage suggests, the inability to trust what our senses are telling us could be construed as one of the album’s central themes. Rather than constrict their art to mythological references or anti-religious tropes, GAEREA instead plumb the depths of the human experiences of isolation and suffering.

Just two years since Mirage was released, GAEREA is here, erupting with intensity, casting forth black ashes over the world yet again.

Their latest release, Coma, has finally surfaced, marking a pivotal shift. From this point forward, everything changes. It's time for GAEREA to bridge the gap between underground metal and the elevated realm they've attained. With Coma, GAEREA emerges from the underground scene, ascending towards a permanently lasting position at the head of the table.

An emotional gateway to a dark black metal scene, a guide to salvation, pain, despair and letting go. Moving up, into the blackness that is above. GAEREA is the answer, the only answer.

Within "Coma's" ten tracks lies an individual narrative, each with its own tale to unveil. Collectively, they blend nuances of aggression, tranquility, solitude, and fervor.

Boasting a superior production that threads the needle between caustic and clarity, GAEREA yet again admit their loyalty to producer Miguel Tereso of Demigod Recordings for the production of Coma. Together they created the birth of "Coma", the new era for metal mankind. Distinguishing themselves ever more so, the Vortex handpicked their artist Nathan Lorenzana with a clear assignment to create their mesmerizing cover artwork. Months of hand drawing the image with a ballpen lead to this masterpiece which dipped his name into ‘Coma’.

The beauty of GAEREA lies in the directness and simplicity found within their florid tapestry of extremity and aggression. Whether it is in the less-polished aural dynamite of Mirage, or in the lustrous textures of Coma, GAEREA is building a mighty edifice of metal. "The Lyricist" will arrive nearly nine years to the day its predecessor ("Attitude", 2009) came out. Its release has been scheduled for the 16th of March on Agonia Records. The album is available for pre-ordering HERE.

The origins of SUSPERIA can be traced back to 1998 when Tjodalv, then occupying the drum seat with Dimmu Borgir, and long-time friend Cyrus (ex-Satyricon, Old Man's Child) got together to share ideas and write songs. On "The Lyricist", SUSPERIA has gone back to its black origin in many ways, one of which is a more grimmer expression. The characteristic melodic twist the band is known for is still present, and an additional layer of variety has been added thanks to new vocalist, Bernt 'Dagon' Fjellestad (whose stage debut with the band was made at last year's 70000 Tons Of Metal Festival). From SUSPERIA's pragmatic point of view, the new album is a "good old-fashioned kick in the head, both old and new fans should find enjoyable".

"The Lyricist" was recorded at three different studios in Norway between February 2015 and May 2016. The album was later mixed and mastered at Strand Studio (Chrome Division, The Wretched End, In Vain) by Marius Strand. Cover design and artwork was prepared by Vincent Fouquet. New band photos were shot by Espen Bakken.

"THE I" DETAILS:

Hailing from Poland, the epic black / death metallers of DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS will release their new album, "The I" on September 22nd, 2017 via Lifeforce Records. The album will be available as CD digipak, limited vinyl LP and digital download.

Recorded at various studios, including Dobra 12 Studio (drums) and Icaros Studio (guitars) the disc was mixed and mastered at Impressive-Art Studio by Przemyslaw Nowak who also handled vocals recording sessions and guitars re-amping. The albums artwork, design and layout were created by Infected Minds. Photo session by Robert Zembrzycki and Pawel Kowalski of BandPhoto

The album features special guest appearances by MERCYFUL FATE / KING DIAMONDs guitarist Mike Wead and by Norways dark metal masters AETERNUS vocalist / guitarist Ares. Other artists who also contributed to the record are shamanic ritual meditative experimental act BÖN and Impressive-Art Studio's owner PRZEMYSLAW NOWAK who came up with interludes, additional background tunes and effects.

"Its been a really long way to be finally able to wrap it all up, countless nights spent on writing the music and lyrics first, then working on the albums pre-production, followed by what seemed to be never-ending, proper recording sessions, and tones of work that had to be done for the band afterwards. We really wanted this new album to become something really special and therefore, to avoid any haphazard decisions, we let them come out of us smoothly, without putting ourselves under any external tension and stuff. Did it pay off? Well, well see! We surely worked our asses off, pushed things back and forth to get the best out of it. As a result weve got something we are damn proud of, something that we believe surpasses on all possible levels everything weve done in the past. I simply believe we have outdone ourselves and recorded something that will cause your hearts beat faster" comments Quazarre, the bands composer, vocalist and guitarist.

The title chosen, "The I", for the record is not only a phonetic acronym of the bands name, but above all it reflects the manifesto they stand for since the Hordes inception in the year 2000 the notion of freedom of choice and will. A supremacy of an individual over any external factors being imposed on us by others, with special emphasis on religion and its convictions, dogmas and paradigms. "The I" is a rebellious manifesto targeted against all those who stand opposed to anything that drives us towards individual perfection.

Ukrainian barbaric back metal horde BALFOR, who have recently joined the ranks of cult French record label Drakkar Productions. Are very excited to reveal the first details of our new album entitled 'Black Serpent Rising'. The cover artwork was created by a talented Ukrainian artist Nugeslag who was the talent and mastermind behind the cover artwork on the latest Rotting Christ albums. His work is unique and exquisite, and captures perfectly the whole concept of the album. A true piece of art!
"Black Serpent Rising" will be released January 15th via Drakkar Productions.

BALFOR is a Ukrainian black metal band from Kyiv featuring Khors, Raventale and ex-Hate Forest members. The band plays a style that can be to define as barbaric black metal, a name that only partly explains the kind of dark, dramatic music they play. Music that is an epic, melodic and a blastingly fast mixture of black and death metal.

The new album, "Black Serpent Rising", was recorded in 2015 and is awaiting release. The album interprets dark, barbaric past of humanity and ancient cults. Having huge experience of live shows, impressive list of club shows and festivals. Band used widely social media platforms and has fan-base all around the world. BALFOR is a worthy representative of Ukrainian and East European metal scene.
