GAEREA - RELEASES "COMA" MUSIC VIDEO! [2024.11.13]
Cathartic black metal outfit
GAEREA have
just released their new music video for the title track "Coma" from their new album.
"Coma" is already out via Season of Mist!
GAEREA are
waking into a new era. The Portuguese masked sensations are no longer strictly a
black metal band. With "Coma", they've surfaced to the top of extreme
metal. Their critically acclaimed new album racked up more than 1 million
streams within 24 hours of landing on Spotify.
"Coma, the quintet's fourth full-length, not only finds them sharpening their
craft", FLOOD gushes,"but it also makes a strong claim as 2024's
best metal record, regardless of subgenre".
To lay claim over their new domain, later this month,
GAEREA are
touring North America with Zeal & Ardor and Zetra. Today, the band
are treating the vortex societies in the U.S. and Canada with a tantalizing
glimpse of their striking live performance. The new video for "Coma"
includes never-before-seen footage from this year's treks to China and Taiwan,
though the title track off their new album also shows just how far
GAEREA have
come.
Though produced by their trusted confident Miguel Tereso, "Coma"
broadens
GAEREA's signature sound by taking it in two seemingly opposed
directions. The title track is one of the heavier songs on the whole album.
Concussive drum fills open the floodgates for a venomous groove that shakes its
scales like a dragon. But its tortured screams and piercing melodies reveal a
mysterious phantom pain.
"This is the song that explains the whole record, basically", the band's
unnamed vocalist told Apple Music. "I was thinking about how to write a song
about someone in a coma, but they're still conscious of it. Because if there's
no consciousness, there won't be a song. So, this is a bit like waking up in a
dark room and seeing the whole word around you, but you can't really figure out
if it's reality, if it's memories, if it's your imagination, or just your lost
dreams in life. It deals with that anxiety of trying to figure out if you're
really here or not, or if this is the afterlife - and whatever the afterlife
might look like".
Next year,
GAEREA are
taking Coma on their first headlining tour of Europe. Catch them in April in
Germany, Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

No one combines death and black metal quite like Poland’s HATE.
With unflinching viciousness and a sense of atmosphere unique to the band, on
Rugia, their twelfth full-length, they push the boundaries of their craft
even further. “It was clear to me that it should build upon and evolve from
our previous record, ‘Auric Gates Of Veles’ (2019), both musically and
lyrically. However, every Hate record stands as a separate journey, and never
twice to the same place. You never know exactly where it will lead you,”
states vocalist/guitarist ATF Sinner, who has led the band since 1991.
Fresh blood in the band’s line-up also helped contribute to Rugia‘s
unique sound. Pavulon (drums), who had played with the band since 2014,
was forced to step down from the band due to serious health issues. The band
tapped Nar-Sil (Neolith, Virgin Snatch, Embrional) to take his place.
“Working with a new drummer this time around was a fascinating experience for
me. Nar-Sil’s technique and presence are quite different from Pavulon’s,
and that definitely comes across. I believe we managed to construct a refreshing
new chapter to our discography, composing nine truly sinister onslaughts of pure
rage.”
The band elected to once again track the album in the Hertz Recording Studio
in Poland, and it was recorded, mixed and mastered by the Wiesłaski Brothers
(Behemoth, Decapitated). Everything was laid down over about two to three
weeks, with longtime collaborator Michał Staczkun providing the ambient
elements of the band’s sound. The only struggle came about at the mixing stage,
where the final character of the record emerges. “Here we encountered many
problems, contradictory visions too. The producers had their own idea for the
overall sound, which differed from what I had in mind, so we were trying to find
a good compromise and it took us a few months.” Given how strongly the
personality of the record shines through, it is safe to say that the compromise
reached was definitely in its best interest, standing as perhaps the best
sounding record in the band’s long career. Hate is also celebrating thirty years
of activity with Rugia, Sinner affirming he is as driven as ever.
“Well, the fire is still burning! I’m proud that I have built a band with such
strong energy, that’s lasted for a long time in spite of numerous line-up
changes and obstacles in our way. We are still here and we create with ever
growing consciousness and dedication. The energy speaks through us. Honestly, I
think of the band as something much bigger and more profound than the individual
people involved in it over any given period of time. I believe we create a
channel for energies that surpass us.”
HATE BIOGRAPHY
No one combines death and black metal quite like Poland's Hate. With
unflinching viciousness and a sense of atmosphere unique to the band, on
Rugia, their twelfth full-length, they push the boundaries of their craft
even further. "It was clear to me that it should build upon and evolve from
our previous record 'Auric Gates Of Veles' (2019) both musically and
lyrically. However, every Hate record stands as a separate journey, and never
twice to the same place. You never know exactly where it will lead you"
states vocalist/guitarist ATF Sinner, who has led the band since 1991.
Fresh blood in the band's lineup also helped contribute to Rugia's unique
sound. Pavulon (drums), who had played with the band since 2014, was
forced to step down from the band due to serious health issues. The band tapped
Nar-Sil (Neolith, Virgin Snatch, Embrional) to take his place.
"Working with a new drummer this time around was a fascinating experience for
me. Nar-Sil's technique and presence are quite different from Pavulon's
and that definitely comes across. I believe we managed to construct a refreshing
new chapter to our discography, composing nine truly sinister onslaughts of pure
rage."
Writing for Rugia commenced shortly after Auric Gates of Veles was
released. However, Hate soon began to tour extensively in support of their then
new opus, and the production of new music was put on the back burner. But come
2020 and the COVID pandemic, the band's touring plans with Belphegor and
Suffocation were abruptly cut short. With this unexpected infusion of free
time, the band decided to buckle down and finish writing the material they were
working on.
Sinner and Nar-Sil were joined by Domin on lead guitar and
Tiermes on bass, who played with the band live since 2018, to complete
the lineup. "Although I wrote the riffs, main arrangements and lyrics, we all
worked on what you hear on Rugia. We put the pieces together and
re-arranged fragments as a team. Our albums are always a collective effort and
Rugia was no different," asserts Sinner. Sound-wise, they were
mainly inspired by nineties extreme metal, both black and death, and they wanted
to keep their sound as organic as possible. Warts and all. "It sounds quite
harsh, very dynamic and unrestrained. It also has a strong ambient element to it
that emphasizes the material's tone and dark atmosphere. The rhythm section is
more death metal influenced this time around, which harkens back to our roots.
You could say that most of the songs on this album are 'pagan death metal' - a
combination of epic riffs and ferocious blasting rhythms." One thing that
might come as a surprise to fans is the manner in which Sinner uses his
voice, which is a lot more sophisticated than on previous records. "I tried
to make my voice sound at three different timbres, or even different people
behind the microphone. Sometimes the voices are combined together, sometimes
they are more like separate vocal lines. I wanted to build this enriched
narrative, and at our shows, I think Tiermes will help me with some of
the vocal lines to bring that effect to a live surrounding."
Lyrically, the album sees the band continue to delve into the depths of Slavonic
mysticism. "Generally, all the songs on the album are dedicated to the
ancient Slavic world - great migrations, wars, battles, and the struggle for
survival. But there is also a philosophical level to it, which is very
important. Slavic mythology is a collection of universal stories touching upon
fundamental issues that we all encounter in our lives. Therefore it is a frame
that allows me to write about contemporary problems that I encounter myself from
a different perspective. Along the way, I discovered my pagan soul and I
encourage people to do the same. I think everybody has this deeper, more
profound identity based on understanding our unity with nature, something that
goes beyond all the civilizations we have built." The album title is taken
from the archaic name of a German island on the Baltic Sea now called Rügen. In
ancient times, Rügen or Rugia, was a site of holy pilgrimage to the pagan
Slavic people. It was the very heart of the western Slavic faith, housing the
fabled stronghold of Arkona. The album is at its core a tribute to Rugia and its
tribes and the culture they created.
The band elected to once again track the album in the Hertz Recording Studio
in Poland, and it was recorded, mixed and mastered by the Wiesłaski Brothers
(Behemoth, Decapitated). Everything was laid down over about two to three

thunderous viking metal with scorching black metal. At times blindingly fast,
sometimes atmospheric, but always melodic and
dynamic.
With strong roots in Nordic and Germanic mythology, and some of the lyrics in
their mother tongue, the mood set is that of ancient peoples, their hopes and
beliefs and their wars and hardships. To date,
two albums have been released: 'Offerings to the Hunger' (2001) and
'Ordeal' (2005), the last of which was an unsigned release.
In their existence Fenris has shared the stage with Enslaved, Sear

GAEREA
arrived shrouded in mystery. The masked sensations emerged from pandemic limbo
with a vision for black metal that was guided not by myths or pagan beliefs but
a purging of emotion. Existential dread still pulses through the Portuguese
band's blood, but their fourth album signals a shift in psychology.
With "Coma",GAEREA
are no longer strictly a black metal band. Instead, they're breaking to the
forefront of extreme metal. Though their new album was produced by trusted
confidant Miguel Tereso, it broadens the band's signature sound by taking
it in two seemingly opposed directions. There are more moments of intense
beauty, but they only heighten the ensuing blows.
GAEREA have
returned to prove that they are only the band who can guide us into the
darkness.
"As someone who's already heard Coma in full, you're getting a glimpse at one
of the best metal records of 2024", wrote Metal Injection
Behind black shrouds of obscurity and desolation, the performers of GAEREA
deliver their odes in cascading maelstroms of aggression and beauty. Emerging
from the age of pandemic to whatever awaits humanity next, the dark horde
remains on the frontlines of the next generation of extreme metal. With an EP
and three albums to their name, GAEREA has
rapidly distinguished themselves from the thousands of bands toiling away in the
underground. Brewing their cauldron of sound from a recipe of pounding
black-metal blast mixed with a touch of harrowed, reflective longing, many
devotees of the darkened arts have flocked to their banner. With the emergence
of third full-length album Mirage, those numbers certainly grew.
GAEREA met a
challenge when releasing their second album during the pandemic, the aptly
titled Limbo, to excellent world reception. In the meantime, they found
the total suspension of interactive life as it was previously known to be the
perfect breeding ground for further creation and making.
Sizzling with ambition from day one, GAEREA may
present one unique face to their audience, masked and enshrouded, but the truth
is they have not remained changeless.
As their previous album name Mirage suggests, the inability to trust what
our senses are telling us could be construed as one of the album’s central
themes. Rather than constrict their art to mythological references or
anti-religious tropes, GAEREA
instead plumb the depths of the human experiences of isolation and suffering.
Just two years since Mirage was released, GAEREA is
here, erupting with intensity, casting forth black ashes over the world yet
again.
Their latest release, Coma, has finally surfaced, marking a pivotal
shift. From this point forward, everything changes. It's time for GAEREA to
bridge the gap between underground metal and the elevated realm they've
attained. With Coma, GAEREA
emerges from the underground scene, ascending towards a permanently lasting
position at the head of the table.
An emotional gateway to a dark black metal scene, a guide to salvation, pain,
despair and letting go. Moving up, into the blackness that is above. GAEREA is the
answer, the only answer.
Within "Coma's" ten tracks lies an individual narrative, each with its
own tale to unveil. Collectively, they blend nuances of aggression, tranquility,
solitude, and fervor.
Boasting a superior production that threads the needle between caustic and
clarity, GAEREA yet
again admit their loyalty to producer Miguel Tereso of Demigod
Recordings for the production of Coma. Together they created the
birth of "Coma", the new era for metal mankind. Distinguishing themselves
ever more so, the Vortex handpicked their artist Nathan Lorenzana with a
clear assignment to create their mesmerizing cover artwork. Months of hand
drawing the image with a ballpen lead to this masterpiece which dipped his name
into ‘Coma’.
The beauty of GAEREA lies
in the directness and simplicity found within their florid tapestry of extremity
and aggression. Whether it is in the less-polished aural dynamite of Mirage,
or in the lustrous textures of Coma, GAEREA is
building a mighty edifice of metal. With talons dipped in the inky blood of
black metal and scraped across the flesh of human suffering, GAEREA is
leading a charge into the future of darkness, and all those who find beauty and
power in the dark side of existence would do well to take heed.

Death Metal band from Sweden. If you are an adept of such music and theme you gonna love them! Get ready to be infected by the dead!

Facebreaker were formed in 1999, following a conversation between
Janne, Roberth, Mikael and Jonas. They had similar music tastes and decided
to start a brutal and straight-forward metal band. A few rehearsal-sessions
later they added lead guitarist Janos to their line-up. Facebreakers
first demo "Use Your Fist" was recorded at a local studio in the
beginning of the new millennium.
In March 2001 they went back to the studio to record a promo demo called
"Hate and Anger". 2002 U.K. based Rage of Achilles Records got hold
of their promo and offered the band a deal. A Rage of Achilles
compilation album called "Conquest For The Empire" was out in April,
featuring Facebreaker along with other new signings on the label. In
September Janos quit the band due to lack of time. Fortunately they knew
a guitar-player named Mika and a line-up change took place.
In June 2003 Facebreaker’s promo demo "Hate and Anger" was released on
seven-inch vinyl. In July the band entered Black Lounge Studios to record
their first full-length album "Bloodred Hell". "Boodred Hell" was
released in the beginning of 2004. It achieved great reviews and feedback all
around the world. Unfortunately Rage Of Achilles went out of business
somewhere between late 2004 and early 2005 and "Bloodred Hell" was never
given the right amount of exposure it deserved.
Without a record-deal Facebreaker made a new promo demo and started to
work on new material. Facebreaker got several offers from interested
labels but finally choose to work with Singapore based Pulverised Records.
2007a new record-deal was closed with Pulverised Records and in July the
band went back to Jonas Kjellgrens Black Lounge Studios to record their
second full-length album "Dead Rotten and Hungry". 2008 Facebreaker
released "Dead Rotten and Hungry" through Pulverised Records. The
album is being licensed to Cyclone Empire for a limited edit. vinyl
release. Facebreaker plays Party San Open Air in Germany and is
getting enthusiastic feedback.
Facebreaker did their first European tour in 2009 and an amazing show at
the With Full Force-Open Air Festival in Germany in front of more than
10,000 people. In September, “Bloodred Hell” is being re-released by
Cyclone Empire with additional bonus tracks. A new worldwide record deal was
signed with Cyclone Empire at the end of 2009.
On the first of January 2010 they started to record their third studio album
called ”INFECTED”. This time they choose to work with Jonas Kjellgren
at Black Lounge Studios and Peter Tägtgren at ABYSS studios.
“INFECTED” was released in October that same year. The release was
followed by gigs and festivals all around Europe, and they did a massive show at
the mighty Summer Breeze festival in 2011.
In 2012 they started to work on their upcoming fourth album “DEDICATED TO THE
FLESH” and in January 2013 they entered Mr Plec’s The Panic Room Studios
to record the drums. The rest was recorded in Slowly Rotting Studios and
Crypt of Death Studios in their hometown Finspång and in Mars they went back
to The Panic Room to do the mix and mastering. The result speaks for it
self, a maximum assault of zombie death metal anger. Released in Europe
28.06.2013 through Cyclone Empire Records.

"BROUGHT FORTH IN INIQUITY"DETAILS: Orchestral Doom / Death metal dark entities ABYSSICwill release
their 3rd album entitled "Brought Forth In Iniquity" on

Finally, ABYSSIC's third opus

and the lyrics are even more haunting than on the last two albums. The
