No one combines death and black metal quite like Poland’s HATE. With unflinching viciousness and a sense of atmosphere unique to the band, on Rugia, their twelfth full-length, they push the boundaries of their craft even further. “It was clear to me that it should build upon and evolve from our previous record, ‘Auric Gates Of Veles’ (2019), both musically and lyrically. However, every Hate record stands as a separate journey, and never twice to the same place. You never know exactly where it will lead you,” states vocalist/guitarist ATF Sinner, who has led the band since 1991. Fresh blood in the band’s line-up also helped contribute to Rugia‘s unique sound. Pavulon (drums), who had played with the band since 2014, was forced to step down from the band due to serious health issues. The band tapped Nar-Sil (Neolith, Virgin Snatch, Embrional) to take his place. “Working with a new drummer this time around was a fascinating experience for me. Nar-Sil’s technique and presence are quite different from Pavulon’s, and that definitely comes across. I believe we managed to construct a refreshing new chapter to our discography, composing nine truly sinister onslaughts of pure rage.”

The band elected to once again track the album in the Hertz Recording Studio in Poland, and it was recorded, mixed and mastered by the Wiesłaski Brothers (Behemoth, Decapitated). Everything was laid down over about two to three weeks, with longtime collaborator Michał Staczkun providing the ambient elements of the band’s sound. The only struggle came about at the mixing stage, where the final character of the record emerges. “Here we encountered many problems, contradictory visions too. The producers had their own idea for the overall sound, which differed from what I had in mind, so we were trying to find a good compromise and it took us a few months.” Given how strongly the personality of the record shines through, it is safe to say that the compromise reached was definitely in its best interest, standing as perhaps the best sounding record in the band’s long career. Hate is also celebrating thirty years of activity with Rugia, Sinner affirming he is as driven as ever. “Well, the fire is still burning! I’m proud that I have built a band with such strong energy, that’s lasted for a long time in spite of numerous line-up changes and obstacles in our way. We are still here and we create with ever growing consciousness and dedication. The energy speaks through us. Honestly, I think of the band as something much bigger and more profound than the individual people involved in it over any given period of time. I believe we create a channel for energies that surpass us.”

POSSESSED "Revelations Of Oblivion" was recorded at NRG studios and Titan Studios with Jeff Becerra as executive producer and Daniel Gonzalez as co-producer for the album. Mixing and mastering was handled by Peter Tägtgren (HYPOCRISY, PAIN, BLOODBATH) at Abyss Studios in Sweden.

Metal Blade Records has proudly announced today the singing of HATE, the glorious Death/Black Metal force hailing from Warsaw, Poland.

HATE have been praised by press and fans alike for years for creating lacerating and dark music, proven best on their current album ‘Tremendum’ (2017). The album saw ATF Sinner (vocals, guitars) utilize the dark aspects of the mystic and arcane Slavonic folklore to explore themes both personal and impersonal. It is an album that is relatable at first listen, but that is hard to fully know.

In 2018, we find HATE as ever, advancing. In preparation for what might be their most fruitful endeavor so far, to collaborate with the home of American Metal, Metal Blade Records. “’You are judged by the company you keep’ the saying goes, and if that is true, then we shall be judged extremely favourably. We are very proud to announce our signing to Metal Blade Records, a label that is as synonymous with Metal as the invention of the distortion pedal. This signing could not have come at a better timing, as it coincides with an opening of a new chapter in the band’s history. Beginning with the release of 2017’s ‘Tremendum’, Hate has been on a journey towards new, even darker horizons, and we’re confident that this step will help us in reaching these goals. Our first collaboration is already well underway and plans have already been laid down to enter the studio in December of this year, with a tentative release date for mid-2019. Polish extreme metallers HATE have just unleashed a rough mix of a new song "Path To Arkhen" taken from pre-production session, which took place between February and April 2018 at JNS Studio.

HATE frontman commented:
"This is a new dawn of a sincerely empowering and galvanising journey to be on. We are currently in the middle of the writing process, but as I promised (here and elsewhere), we are sharing this piece in its initial form: ”Path To Arkhen.” Arkhen being a version of the last bastion of Slavic Paganism, Arkona. (...) We are planning to enter the studio by the end of this year, with the new record fully written in hand for a tentative early 2019 release. Thematically, it builds further upon the themes of our previous album, “Tremendum,” exploring the darker and more malevolent sides of archaic Slavic ritualism. This new opus will explore these themes further, more profoundly, detailing with our own confrontations with this gone, but not forgotten world. Both in form and in sound."

Swedish death metal rulers GRAVE have finished the recording for their eagerly awaited new album, "Out Of Respect For The Dead". Three years have passed since the release of GRAVE's last opus, the highly praised "Endless Procession Of Souls", that was followed by a European headlining tour together with Sonne Adam, the release of the vinyl-only "Morbid Ascent" EP and another tour together with their labelmates Entombed A.D. Since autumn 2014 GRAVE have constantly been working on the follow-up album of "EPOS". Now "Out Of Respect For The Dead" is finally done. And it turned out to be one of the angriest and most evil albums of the band's career. Check out the brand new track "Redeemed Through Hate" and judge by yourself:
