DIABOLICAL SEEKING FOR NEW LIVE DRUMMER! [2017.05.04]
Swedish death black metallers
DIABOLICAL are looking for a live drummer to fill in for Pär on
our shows from the second half of 2017 and onwards, as he will be unable to
travel for some time due to private reasons. To be clear: Pär is not
leaving the band and his work with the band upcoming album is above all
expectations.
DIABOLICAL are looking for someone with great musical skills who has
touring experience, is comfortable playing to programmed click tracks, able to
attend rehearsals regularly, able handle basic tech (pads etc.), flexible and a
quick learner.
The band is located in Stockholm, Sweden. We will be considering all
applications but it's obviously a plus if you are not located on the other side
of the planet.
No criminal record that can cause problems applying for visas (you need to be
able to travel also outside Europe, incl. USA, Japan etc.).
Please write the band with as much information about yourself as possible;
musical background as well as goals and visions with your music. Videos of you
playing is appreciated, preferably recent videos that are representative of your
level and style as a drummer.

prelistening session of the album at Wing Studios and it was a great

AND SINGER SVERKER WIDGREN PART WAYS! [2017.04.03]
Swedish death metal masters DEMONICAL have parted ways with their singer and well known extreme
metal guru Sverker Widgren (DIABOLICAL,
Wing Studios).
Sverker who has been the band singer since 2008 has comented on this:
"In an attempt to avoid speculation, I'd like to inform anyone interested that
the concert we did with Demonical last month was my last appearance with
the band. I spent 9 years singing in this band and we did three albums, some
EP's s and a few hundered shows during this period and I learned to know many
great persons.
Some will wonder why I won't take part anymore, so out of respect to the people
that follow the band I'll (try to) give a short explanation.
When I joined the band in 2008 after the debut album, I was running my studio
together with another person, meaning that I basically worked 20 days, had 20
days off, worked 20 days etc. This obviously meant that I had plenty of time to
spend outside the studio.
Some years ago I got myself a bigger facility, Wing Studios, and started
to operate it myself, meaning that I personally handle basically all recording,
mixing, mastering etc that is done here. This obviously meant spending more time
in the studio since it is usually fully booked. In addition to this, my original
band DIABOLICAL also started to get more recognition, more shows etc
which also gradually started to consume more time.
Everybody who knows me or have ever worked with me knows that the work I do with
the productions at Wing Studios is my top priority overall, and in
combination with the increasing activities with Diabolical, I simply
havent been able to put enough effort into Demonical during the last two or
three years.
When we now look at 2017 and I go through my recording schedule in the studio
and realize that the recording and touring plans that we have with Diabolical
for 2017 and 2018 are the most extended plans that we have ever had since
the band was formed 21 years ago, it would simply not do anyone any favours if I
would take part in the process of making another album with Demonical now.
This is something that was clear to both me and the guys in the band after some
conversations we had a couple of months back.
I didn't "jump the ship" though! I actually planned to do the concerts in
Finland this month and I was originally expecting the gigs in July to be my last
trip with the boys, but since they already have a guy to replace me and he will
be ready for those shows, it was decided that we should make this change already
now. Since we also had offers to tour both Japan and Eastern Europe in July with
Diabolical, I think we all feel that the time to make this change is now
rather than later.
I probably shouldn't announce his name, but the new vocalist is also a good
friend of mine and is in my opinion an awesome person with a great voice, so no
worries there. Demonical have had 15 different permanent or session
members over the last years but the sound has stayed pretty much the same and I
know that it will remain the same in the future too.
I would have loved to list all the people I learned to know during our chaotic
trips but I promised to keep this message short which has already failed badly.
And besides, my journey around the globe obviously continues, just not with
Demonical. But in short: thanks to all the above mentioned past and present
guys in the band for all the great memories, and thanks to everyone who
supported Demonical through these years and will continue to support the
band in the future. I look forward to see you people around again soon!

"Requiem" introduces the listeners into this masterpiece with a
bone-crushing heavy track containing a very own cold dark touch of enchanting darkness, here
the clean vocal choirs give an even deeper enchanting aura to the already
ethereal sound! "Diaspora" takes you forwards through this darkly intense
death metal piece of art! This is a quite dynamic strong track, where slower and
doleful parts combine in perfection with faster doom daring creations! Consumed
by "Diaspora" black flames of horror we move forwards into "Tremor",
an absolute new experience to Diabolical listeners, containing spoken
excerpts from the late Jiddu Krishnamurti‘s "Talks on Fear", this slower,
yet intense track takes you into a eerie melancholic journey, inciting you to
close your eyes and transcend, meditate through a dark celestial plenitude! This
track easily detaches from all the others I heard of Diabolical before, a bright
new experience for all the listeners!
To end this majestic EP we have the track
"Decline", a defying and ultimate barbaric assault into the
listener’s ears, this
is another fantastic strong track with an outstanding unearthly guitar solo.
The dynamism of Diabolical musical metamorphosis is impressive to say
the least, the top-notch variations from dark slower to heart-ripping fast melodies are on
the edge of what is being done these days on extreme metal camp!
The top quality of this "Umbra" EP is undeniable! The sound created at
Wing Studios in Stockolm by vocalist Sverker Widgren is simply
outstanding!
Now as a four piece, the extreme metal riders of the Apocalypse Sverker,
Carl, Dan and Pär have proved to be one of the best emerging bands on
the extreme metal scene; their constantly evolving music is indeed quite in front of what is being done in a already saturated
metal genre! Diabolical musician’s talent and geniality is undeniable, not only musically but also
artistically, worthy to be mentioned, the EP cover art is another conception of
the main lyricist Carl Stjärnlöv (guitarist) creative mind!
This quality and "know-how" has allowed the band to be part of several significant tours like

DIABOLICAL’s new EP "Umbra" (...) is a multifaceted obsidian gem.
Atmospherically forbidding and possessed of a grim, doomed grandeur for most of
its length, Umbra is also savage — and at times wistful and meditative. It’s so
well-conceived and expertly performed that it has the capacity to carry
listeners away and hold them in thrall, while also triggering fierce surges of
adrenaline.
"Umbra" also reflects changes in style since the band’s last release, the
2013 concept album "Neogenesis". Gone are the symphonic arrangements and
massed choral voices, yet even in the absence of these elements the music is
still often shrouded in an aura of forbidding majesty — as well as implacable
menace.
This sense of dark, malignant majesty comes through powerfully in the EP’s
opening track, “Requiem“. The song is well-named, because there is also a
stately, funereal air in the song’s bleak, melancholy melody, its groaning bass
chords, and the slow, sinuous guitar solo that comes in the track’s back half.
Yet the swarming tremolo riffs and tyrannical vocals also suggest the presence
of an implacable evil.
“Diaspora” generates a thoroughly morbid atmosphere from the beginning.
Alternating within the song are slow, mournful chords of doom, tremolo riffing
that seethes like a nest of vipers being consumed by flames, and rapid jabbing
paired with a slow, eerie guitar lead.
The third track, “Tremor” bring a surprising change of pace, intensity,
and style. Nearly clean guitar notes that have a kind of Doppler effect in their
reverberation give the song a dreamlike air, a feeling that grows stronger as
the melody begins to glide, enhanced by a soulful guitar solo. It’s a melancholy,
wistful, meditative piece that for much of its length is accompanied by excerpts
from the late Jiddu Krishnamurti‘s Talks on Fear (eventually joined by
clean vocals).
DIABOLICAL close "Umbra" with the dynamism of “Decline“,
an ominous song launched with a bleak and barbarous assault. Laced with wisps of
eerie melody and including an interlude of gliding chords and sparkling guitar
notes as well as a mournful solo, the song proves to be as entrancing as it is
pummeling.
Though each of these songs is very strong standing alone, this really is an EP
best heard all the way through, from start to finish. In my humble opinion, it’s
one of
DIABOLICAL’s best releases yet.
