Os amantes portugueses de death metal técnico e brutal têm, devido ao carácter específico da música que ouvem, poucas oportunidades de ver bandas internacionais do género ao vivo no nosso país mas, quando têm, é em grande. Vai ser esse claramente o caso da Disposal of the World European Tour 2017, que junta no cartaz os alemães Deafeated Sanity a encabeçarem um luxuoso alinhamento de bandas americanas - Putrid Pile, Cranial Engorgement, Skinned e Primordius – e que passa por Portugal nos dias 13 e 14 de Janeiro, respectivamente pela Cave 45 (Porto) e RCA Club (Lisboa). Vai ser um fim-de-semana bruto, técnico e bem puxadinho para os fãs portugueses.

Os Defeated Sanity formaram-se em 1994 na capital germânica com o objectivo simples e singelo de “tocarem o death metal mais brutal e intenso” que conseguissem. Depois de uma década a afinarem agulhas, durante a qual editaram três maquetas, dois splits e um EP chegaram ao álbum de estreia “Prelude To The Tragedy”, disponibilizado em 2004 pela Grindtethic Records. Por essa altura, os Defeated Sanity eram já uma respeitada força de death metal técnico e brutal, que tinha mostrado ao mundo um dos mais virtuosos guitarristas da cena alemã: Christian Münzner (que mais tarde viria a ser recrutado pelos Necrophagist e pelos Obscura). Mas foi apenas em 2007 que o grupo “explodiu” verdadeiramente na cena internacional, com o álbum “Psalms Of The Moribund”. Seguiu-se um contrato com a influente editora norte-americana Willowtip e os Defeated Sanity começaram a pisar palcos fora da Alemanha, apesar de constantes alterações na formação oficial. Seguiu-se “Chapters of Repugnance” em 2010, “Passages Into Deformity” em 2013 e o conjunto de dois EPs “Disposal of the Dead/Dharmata” já este ano. Em 2017, o quarteto visita Portugal como uma das maiores forças do underground bruto germânico que, pese embora mantenha apenas o baterista da formação inicial, se constitui como uma bem oleada máquina de death metal técnico.

Dos Estados Unidos chegam os Putrid Pile, liderados pelo veterano Shaun LaCanne (ex-Num Skull), que grava todos os discos como one-man-band. Reza a lenda que Shaun se inspirou num concerto de Insidious Decrepancy (outra banda “a solo”) para iniciar o projecto. O que é certo é que, desde 2000, cinco álbuns de originais transformaram Shaun e Putrid Pile numa das mais conceituadas entidades de death metal ultra-brutal dos Estados Unidos. E isso não é dizer pouco quando a “concorrência” é composta por nomes como Devourment, Skinless ou Gorgasm. “Paraphiliac Perversions”, o mais recente disco editado em Maio deste ano pela Sevared Records, será certamente o título em relevo no set da banda (que conta com o ex-Gorgasm Derek Hoffman na bateria, com o ex-Lividity Matt Bishop na voz e com o ex-Swamp Chuck Murray na guitarra), mas qualquer um dos quatro álbuns anteriores do projecto deverá fornecer clássicos suficientes para uma actuação que se prevê precisa, técnica e sem qualquer tipo de misericórdia.

O “aquecimento” das noites brutais de Lisboa e Porto será assegurado por um conjunto de bandas que compõem o que de melhor a nova geração de death metal norte-americano tem para oferecer. Os Cranial Engorgement vêm com o “cartão de visita” de, com apenas uma maqueta (editada em 2014) terem sido contratados pela conceituada Gore House Productions. Os Skinned têm atrás de si duas décadas de actividade e quatro álbuns de originais cheios de breaks improváveis, blastbeats que roçam o nível de epilepsia, versatilidade técnica e uma incomum intensidade atmosférica. Finalmente os Primordius, que aliam a brutalidade do death metal a uma temática lírica assente na natureza e na pré-história, numa mistura que tem cativado um crescente número de fãs.

O concerts da Disposable of the World European Tour 2017 acontece no dia 14 de Janeiro no RCA Club (Lisboa). As portas abrem às 20:30 e os concertos começam às 21:00. Os bilhetes custam 15€ em pré-venda e 17€ no próprio dia e estarão disponíveis nos próximos dias nos locais a designar.

Sammath Naur was formed in 1999 by Uzurpator - vocals, Saturnus - guitars, Sigmar - guitars and Lestath - drums. The name of the band has been adapted from JRR Tolkien's works and means 'Chambers of Fire', the only place where the One Ring could be destroyed.

The band recorded its first 6 track demo, "Through the Mountains of Mordor, " that same year. The music on this demo was very raw and simple. It was reminiscent of Immortal and Emperor's early works. Due to the poor sound quality, the demo has never been released.

In 2001 Sammath Naur greeted its new guitarist Tempter, keyboard player Demetrius and bassist Morgoth. Saturnus decided to change his role from a guitar player to a vocalist, thereby replacing Uzurpator. In this new lineup, the band started working on new material and getting ready for a recording session. The result was a second demo, "The Wall of Sleep". It was self-funded and released in 2001. It contained 6 new compositions, somewhat faster and more mature, in which electric organs played a more prominent role. "The "On the Altar of Mars" music video was attached to this release. The author of the music video was Patryk Chyla. It won second prize at the Berlin music video festival in 2002. It was Sammath Naur's first major success. Many positive reviews were written after the release of The Wall of Sleep. The material has been intensively promoted at concerts throughout Poland with bands like Esqarial and Lost Soul.

Work on a new release was started in 2003. The process of creating and recording new material took a long time. The band was troubled by personal problems throughout the whole time. Saturnus left at the very beginning of the recording session. Soon after the bass tracks were recorded, Morgoth went in Saturnus' tracks, leaving the band. Work on the third release was completed in 2004, unfortunately without Tempter, who was replaced by Valeo (aka. V), and with a brand new vocalist, Levan. The new album was titled "The Forever War". It consisted, once again, of 6 tracks, however this time a certain innovation was introduced. The Forever War was a concept album. The tracks all made up a consistent whole. They combined various music styles, intertwining in a natural way, such as black/death metal, soundtrack scores and symphonic music. The material was a sure step forward in the development of the band, although the real breakthrough was yet to come. In this new lineup, Sammath Naur's members started promoting their new material on numerous concerts. Having been invited by Effect Murder and Deception, they set out on their first tour of Poland. An intensive search for a record company started at about that time. The band eventually decided to sign a contract with Redrum666 Records. The cooperation, however, proved ill-fated. The premiere of The Forever War kept being postponed. The album wasn't released.

By the end of 2004 the band decided to record their first professional album. Composing music this time didn't take so long. It was completed on the break of June-July 2004. Sammath Naur was joined by bassist Tas at that time. The recording session started in February 2005 and was planned out into 3 stages. During its course, important changes in the lineup occurred. Keyboard player Demetrius, who took part in the recording of the new material, left the band. His absence forced guitarist Valeo (aka V) to record the keyboard parts on the album. Hitherto vocalist Levan was removed from the band during recording. As a result of this, most of the vocal parts were arranged and performed by drummer Lestath. There was one more new musician, Revisque - composer and producer of game soundtracks, with whom the band started to co-operate already by the end of the recording session. That's why only one of his compositions, "Grand Space Opera, " can be found on the new CD.

Everything was completed by June 2005. Soon afterwards, Polish Empire Records grew interested in the material from SN, thanks to whom the album "Self Proclaimed Existence" was released in December 2005 in conjunction with THRASH'EM ALL magazine. The CD comprised of 11 tracks. The music was faster and far more aggressive - it's really didn't sound anything like the first two demos. The style of creating music by merging various musical genres, first attempted in The Forever War, was explored more deeply on this album. The assimilation of such diverse styles as black/death metal, classical rock, new age, film scores, symphonic and choir music resulted in a unique creation that couldn't be categorized, stereotyped or pigeon-holed.

Thanks to this album, the true potential of Sammath Naur's musicians has been noticed very quickly by other artists. Presently, Valeo plays with Vesania and Rootwater and Lestath has been a drummer of Esqarial and Darzamat.

BALFOR BIOGRAPHY

Balfor is a Ukrainian Black Metal band from Kyiv featuring Khors, Raventale and ex-Hate Forest members. The band plays a style that can be to define as Barbaric Black Metal, a name that only partly explains the kind of dark, dramatic music they play. Music that is an epic, melodic and a blastingly fast mixture of Black and Death Metal.

Band's frontman, continuously since its founding, is Anton Thorgeir Prymak - lead vocals, guitars and as well as main composer.
The first album “Volki Severa” was released by German label E.O.L.P. Production and received many good reviews. Meantime, band completed their first Ukrainian tour.

Next release “Pure Barbaric” in a move calculated to bring Balfor to the attention of a much larger audience was released for free download via a net-label. It was a move that was extremely successful in terms of increasing interest to the band. Using the resources and capabilities of social media Balfor manages to attract new listeners worldwide.

Writing a new album “Barbaric Blood” Balfor signed a contract and publishes it on Pulverised Records. European tour in support of the album was very successful. The band played shows in Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Poland. Balfor also take a part on such well-known European metal festivals like: Eindhoven Metal Meeting (NL), Rockmaraton (HU), Dong Open Air (DE), Global East (UA), Metal Heads Mission (UA), Kilkim Zaibu (LT), Gothoom (SK), Carpathian Alliance (UA), Metal Crowd (BEL), etc.

After that “Barbaric Blood” was released by CD-Maximum Records for CIS and Baltic countries under the license of Pulverised Records.
Second European tour Balfor shared in the company of black metal bands Emptiness and Christ Agony.

Without dwelling on the achievements Balfor returned to Kyiv and recorded the EP “Heralds Of The Fall”.
And new album “Black Serpent Rising” will be released in January 2017 by French label Drakkar Productions. Album interprets dark, barbaric past of humanity and ancient cults.

ZORNHEYM BIOGRAPHY

Zornheym is a new symphonic extreme metal band from Stockholm. The band may be new, however the members are weathered veterans in the scene with tons of experience.

They have fused together great story telling with a cinematic approach spiced up with urban legends and actual authentic horror stories. Finding inspiration from bands like Dissection, Dimmu Borgir, King Diamond, Marduk and Satyricon, the music is guitar based and backed up by a real string orchestra and 150 voices strong choir! You're gonna be in for a hell of ride when entering their domain!

Right now the band is recording in the Wings studio in Stockholm, working hard to record their first batch of songs and are very eager to reveal their symphonies to the world.
