It's a diverse CD with many different aspects. We have encompassed a myriad of influences. Some people call it maybe too diverse without any real red thread. This is, of course, wrong. We have gathered different things to be able to express emotions form a sea of possibility. One song is straight up black, another one is very folkish and a third might be atmospheric. Every song is a different story and we hope you will appreciate what we have created. Join us as our story has just begun.

And in 2019 we refined our sound even more and released Nattarvet. A chronicle of famine and hardship set in the windswept hamlets in Sweden in the 1860.

In 2014 when Rydsheim, Jothun and Borka wanted to create something together.
Rydsheim and Borka was in a band together called ÅSKFÖDD which had gathered notoriety in the folk scene around Stockholm, Sweden. Jothun had been in various bands before but nothing which caught his interest. The trio started to play black'n roll but lacked a vocalist and a steady second guitarist. After a few months Nine (WITHERSHIN) and Nox (WITHERSHIN, PRAY FOR LOCUST, RIKET) joined and the journey began to take shape.
Together they formed the band WORMWOOD and released their debut EP in 2015, The Void – Stories From the Whispering Well.
A record where they mixed folk, black and rock'n roll. Lyrics based on old Scandinavian folk tales.

With a sense of unfulfillment they began to reshape their sound. After a toilsome year of live performances and creating new music, all of the songs where done and the next step was to record it.
Sverker Widgren (DEMONICAL, DIABOLICAL) was the first choice, so WORMWOOD entered Wing Studios to record Ghostlands – Wounds From a Bleeding Earth (release date in spring 2017). The final product was an ethereal mix of genres, black metal, folk, rock. All this was combined in an atmospherical undertone.

The album was recorded and WORMWOOD released their music video, Godless Serenade, which was shot up in the high north of Sweden, far above the arctic circle. Some of the shot was also done outside of Stockholm, where the director Isak Skagerström lives. The music video was a success and the hunt for a label ensued. After a while, a perfect home was found; Non Serviam Records. They had the perfect vision for WORMWOOD. Fruitful years are surely to come.

2017 will be the year of WORMWOOD. Be a part of this monumental journey. We have such sights to show the world.

The Swedish Atmospheric melodic black metal force of nature WORMWOOD have revealed details on their new opus "NATTARVET" (Night's heritage).

The band comments: "The upcoming album 'NATTARVET' will be a conceptual album about the hardships of the unforgiving Nordic nature.
During the 1800-hundreds famines were commonplace out on the windswept farms and secluded hamlets. Many people left Scandinavia towards America and other countries to build a new life, but many stayed, not wanting to leave their old houses which has been past on for generations. They stayed on frozen soil and sickness.
'NATTARVET' tell the stories of certain families fate and their superstitions towards the coming darkness.

It will be a journey through plague-stricken houses, sub-arctic agony, unbridled affection towards your birthplace and much more.

BIOGRAPHY:

In 2014 when Rydsheim, Jothun and Borka wanted to create something together.
Rydsheim and Borka was in a band together called ÅSKFÖDD which had gathered notoriety in the folk scene around Stockholm, Sweden. Jothun had been in various bands before but nothing which caught his interest. The trio started to play black'n roll but lacked a vocalist and a steady second guitarist. After a few months Nine (WITHERSHIN) and Nox (WITHERSHIN, PRAY FOR LOCUST, RIKET) joined and the journey began to take shape.
Together they formed the band WORMWOOD and released their debut EP in 2015, The Void – Stories From the Whispering Well.
A record where they mixed folk, black and rock'n roll. Lyrics based on old Scandinavian folk tales.

With a sense of unfulfillment they began to reshape their sound. After a toilsome year of live performances and creating new music, all of the songs where done and the next step was to record it.
Sverker Widgren (DEMONICAL, DIABOLICAL) was the first choice, so WORMWOOD entered Wing Studios to record Ghostlands – Wounds From a Bleeding Earth (release date in spring 2017). The final product was an ethereal mix of genres, black metal, folk, rock. All this was combined in an atmospherical undertone.

The album was recorded and WORMWOOD released their music video, Godless Serenade, which was shot up in the high north of Sweden, far above the arctic circle. Some of the shot was also done outside of Stockholm, where the director Isak Skagerström lives. The music video was a success and the hunt for a label ensued. After a while, a perfect home was found; Non Serviam Records. They had the perfect vision for WORMWOOD. Fruitful years are surely to come.

2017 will be the year of WORMWOOD. Be a part of this monumental journey. We have such sights to show the world.

WORMWOOD RECORDING THE NEW ALBUM

The Swedish Atmospheric melodic black metal force of nature WORMWOOD have started recordings for the new album over the famous Wing Studios (Diabolical, Demonical, Zornheym,etc...) where the band has recorded the first impressive full length "Ghostlands..."!
The band recently announced the departure of Borka, one of the founding members of WORMWOOD and they also parted ways with their friend Jonny who helped the band with the bass spot.

In Old Norse, seiðr was a type of sorcery practiced in Norse society during the Late Scandinavian Iron Age. Connected with Norse religion, its origins are largely unknown, although it gradually eroded following the Christianization of Scandinavia.




WORMWOOD IN VAGOS METAL FEST IN PORTUGAL!

In August 8 to 11 2019 Swedish Atmospheric melodic black metal warriors WORMWOOD , will be performing at the Vagos Metal Fest in Portugal.
The band will be playing with bands such as Alestorm, Dagoba, Aborted, Tyr and many others, exact date and time will be announced later.

Ultimate atmospheric melodic black metal warriors WORMWOOD are looking for a talented session bass player who can start immediately.

What the band seeks for!
- Between 25-35 years of age (not carved in stone)
- Lives in Stockholm, or can travel there easily
- Can practice 1-2 times a week
- Have your own gear (we will provide with an amp during audition)
- Can be ready to go on tour/take gigs in short notice
- Have substantial experience of playing live and working in a studio
- Fit the aesthetics and image of Wormwood
- A steady income and a will to help finance what ever is needed.

What the band doesn't want:
- People who can't come to practice often
- Political zealots
