Helmuth comments: "Our two Rituals in Portugal last weekend had been a spectacular ending for 2018. Serpenth and I once again had a challenging year for the band. For the first time we marched into Australia/ New Zealand and also did some of our most intense open air Rituals in the summer such as Wacken, Gefle Metal, Brutal Assault, Metaldays to just name a few.

Hail to all the people who attended our shows, picked up our records and bought official merchandise and have supported BELPHEGOR in any way. You are the reason why we are still able to march in worldwide, bringing death-magick devastation. We wish you all an intense hell-ride into 2019!"

2018 was surely a turning period for the Void Society an it’s ambassadors. GAEREA crossed new borders throughout the old continent and the release of their first Full length endeavour truly opened doors for a majestic and unforgettable year to come. Portuguese disturbing black metal entities GAEREA have just debuted their video for "Absent" from their critic acclaimed debut full length "Unsettling Whispers" out via Transcending Obscurity Records.. This is one of the most intense and painful tracks on the album. The video is very "unconventional" and delivers the message in perfection.

"(...) With the video for “Absent,” which you can watch (...), tackles subjects of negative emotion, paranoia and suicide, an idea broached at the beginning of the song with the lyric “Suicide is part of your life.”

Of the song’s lyrics, the band tells Decibel, “‘Absent’ might be the most intimate and emotional song the vortex ever sculpted. Through the visions of almost voyeur, we feel despair, anger and solitude on a blind man who seeks comfort in his own paranoia.”

If you care more about riffs and blast beats than feelings, Gaerea have that too. The discordant opening notes of “Absent” stick in the listener’s mind, providing the unsettling backdrop for furious blasts, icy vocals and more catchy riffs.
